How we handle the data of those who write to us or book: data controller, purposes, third-party services (booking engine, map), your rights under GDPR.

Data controller

The data controller is the owner of Villa Gioma, Via di Compignano, Balbano, 55100 Lucca, Italy, reachable at info@villagioma.it. This notice concerns the website villagioma.it and is provided under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR), which applies to visitors from anywhere in the world.

What data we collect and why

If you write to us by email, on WhatsApp or through the form on the site, we process the data you send us (name, contact details, the content of your message) for the sole purpose of replying and managing a possible booking. The legal basis is the performance of pre-contractual measures at your request. If you book, the data needed for the contract and for legal obligations (for example, the mandatory registration of guests with the Italian public security authorities) is processed to comply with those obligations.

How long we keep it

Messages without follow-up are deleted within twelve months. Booking data is kept for as long as Italian tax and legal obligations require.

Third-party services

The calendar and the booking form are provided by BookPage (SmartPMS) and loaded from the domain cdn.ciaobooking.com: the data entered in the booking is processed by that service under its own privacy policy, which we invite you to read before booking. The contact form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, an anti-abuse check that uses no tracking cookies, and is delivered to our mailbox by our own systems, which send an automatic acknowledgement to the address you provide. The map on the contact page is an embedded frame from OpenStreetMap. The WhatsApp button opens Meta's application. These services may collect technical data, such as your IP address, when they are loaded or used.

Cookies

This website does not set any cookies of its own and does not use analytics or profiling tools. The booking calendar, as a third-party service, may use technical cookies necessary for its operation.

Your rights

You can at any time request access to your data, its correction, deletion, restriction of processing and portability, and object to processing, by writing to info@villagioma.it. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).

This notice is current as of September 2026 and may change when the site's services change. The version in force is always the one published on this page.
